Earlier this year in June, I had the absolute delight of doing my first destination wedding in the beautiful South of France! The South of France, renowned for its picturesque landscapes, charming vineyards, and Mediterranean allure, set the stage for a truly magical summer wedding. Lois and Ed have lots of special memories here, with Ed's parents having a family home out there. Located near the small, picturesque town of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, the couple had an intimate celebration amongst the rolling hills of Réau. Creating almost everything for their wedding, from the wedding stationery (with Lois being a graphic designer), place settings, silk flowers and a hanging army of origami cranes, this was the perfect inspiration for any DIY wedding.
We kick started bridal prep in a local Chateau with Beauty by Ruby Grace working her magic on hair and makeup (while 36 weeks pregnant I may add - trooper!) Lois wore an elegant, sleek dress from Wed2B for the day, and slipped into a sequin number for the evening reception. Paired with a glistening headband, delicate jewellery and a floor length veil, Lois was the perfect bride.
The ceremony took place in Réau underneath a sky of hanging origami cranes, surrounded by their nearest dearest, with Ed's brothers conducting the ceremony. No celebration in the South of France is complete without a culinary experience that tantalizes the taste buds. The couple treated their guests to a feast of mexican delicacies, from burritos to tacos, and some home made cocktails too!
As the sun started to dip below the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow over the rolling hills, the celebration continued into the night and Lois & Ed ended up with the most gorgeous golden hour photographs. The couple and their guests danced under a canopy of twinkling fairy lights, surrounded by the rhythmic sounds of laughter and joy. The magical ambiance created by the combination of the starlit sky and great music, made for an unforgettable evening.
